A LIFESTYLE with BUMPS in the ROAD
Before my wedding on December 20, 2014 I worked my BUTTTT off to fit into a certain size BECAUSE I wanted to look a certain way in my dress. At one point I was working out WAY to much for the amount of food I was eating. I took things TOO FAR.
Did I feel good in my dress ?!! HECK YES!!! Was I making the best choices?! Not really!!
After the wedding I really started to focus on eating right and finding a healthy life long balance of fitness. It was on my honeymoon that I realized I needed to increase the amount of food I ate. I was REALLY enjoying the fresh fruit and veggies at the buffet and let myself EAT way more. I found that during my daily workouts and run I had more energy and was seeing more results. It wasn't until AFTER when I got back from my honeymoon that I realized FOOD effects my ability to workout.
I quickly started focusing on having the PERFECT meals everyday and NEVER EVER EVER missing my workouts. I become completely fixated on achieving my goals. AT this point I lost track of reality and let myself get into a state of stress. I started putting my workouts AHEAD of sleep and mental health.
EVENTUALLY I crashed and was unable to do workouts physically. This was SO hard for me to move past. I felt like I was failing myself and failing as a coach. I believed that I could be PERFECT at all times. BUT the truth is that you can not ALWAYS workout and some days you just can't have the absolute perfect meal. It took me a longtime to realize that taking a mental day or having a cheat meal was okay. Finding balance is part of creating a healthy lifestyle. Sometimes we need a day off and sometimes we need to get back on board.
Here are some of my tips to get back on track:
- Pick a NEW start day and stick to it
- Pick three days the following week that YOU WILL work out and stick to it
- Pick a short term obtainable goal
- Pick a long term goal and share it publicly
SO here is what I did recently to get back on track after the Beachbody Summit in Nashville in July.
1. I started the monday I got back.
1. I started the monday I got back.
2. I NEVER missed a day and followed my new program play for 42 days.
3. I wanted to achieve a 7 day week with no misses. When I did that I got to buy something small FOR ME
4. I wanted to go an entire program without missing a day
5. I posted my workout EVERYDAY on Facebook to stay accountable to my goals.
SO when you have a bad week or you fall of the wagon I want you to know --- YOU CAN DO THIS. Grab a hold of your goals and hang on. It is go time ladies!
