CHALLENGER SPOT LIGHT
The number one reason why I love my job so much is THIS RIGHT HERE! Lisa grew up in a nearby town. Little did we know that our lives would cross paths later in life in University. Lisa popped into my life through social media -- like many of you have! We quickly saw that we had things in common such as teaching, helping people and inspiring people to be the best versions of themselves. Lisa and I started chatting on and off on Facebook where she went back and forth with her desire to take control of her life and make it work financially! FOR months she was persistent that she WAS going to do this the minute she got back from impacting youth's lives across Canada. I knew deep down that Lisa was going to do this and ROCK it!
Over the last 8 months Lisa and I have become friends that not only lift each other up BUT also work together to impact the people in our lives! Recently she shared her transformation and I was completely in AWH of her. She has overcome so many obstacles and STILL stuck to her guns! She has had bumps in her road but never lost track of her long term goals.
I asked Lisa why she decided to do home fitness and this is what she had to say:

I asked Lisa why she decided to do home fitness and this is what she had to say:
"In June of 2015 I finished an internship that was one of the most amazing experiences of my life; but I had gained a lot of weight and was extremely unhealthy when I returned home. I was overweight, extremely self-conscious, and unhappy with my looks and just generally feeling tired and unmotivated. I had been following Kelsey on Facebook for about a year and had been chatting with her about the 21 Day Fix program for a few months. When I got back I decided it was time to make a change. I did not have time to go to the gym, as I was working 2 full time jobs when I got home and I really did not feel comfortable there anyway. So I took a leap of faith with Beachbody and with the help of my amazing coach and other challengers, I started to achieve my goals and feel so much healthier."
I love going back and having these reflective moments with my past challengers! I know for me each time I go back and reflect on my journey I really GROW and take a few steps forward. It is so important looking back and how you started and WHY you started! This is the foundation that your determination, consistency and LOVE of fitness is built off of. Most of my challengers don't tell me they LOVE working out -- it usually is that they haven't found their groove yet. My FAV part is watching each person find their groove in the challenge group! For some that is in the first 21 days and others it takes a bit longer! Regardless we all find it! Lisa was one of those challengers that I KNEW found her groove right away! Here is what she had to say,
"I absolutely LOVE how supportive everyone was in the challenge groups! I love being surrounded by people on the same journey as I am, even if we are all at different stages. It is really a place to make friends and connections with people in a positive environment. Having a place that you can share your struggles and also share your successes is such an amazing thing. It has also helped me break out of my comfort zone and try different programs!"
I really couldn't have said it better than Lisa! The challenge groups did the SAME thing for me! They helped me to break FREE of my funk, find my confidence and take a leap of faith out of my comfort zone to GO for the BIG change! For so many we hold back or put things off because we are scared of failure or the obstacles that lay in front of us. AND a fitness journey definitely will have MANY of those! For me there has been the battle of not losing weight fast enough, or the scale going up, and EVEN losing my inspiration and believe that I one day would have abs! Things like that played with my mind and through twists into my journey! At each of those moments I was so grateful to have my ladies in the challenge groups to lean on and connect with! Lisa ran into some of these struggles too! "My biggest struggle is a definitely getting back on track when I start to slide. I work three jobs and I am a full time student, so when I start to skip work outs, and slack on the meal planning, I really struggle getting back into the routine. Thankfully I have people who push me to get back on track on a regular basis so when I am struggling, the motivation is not far away!"
With every down there is an up! We all have the choice to focus in on the negatives or the moments that didn't go as planned OR we can focus on the steps we take forward! I was working out everyday and seeing the scale go up! Instead of celebrating the fact that I had indeed succeed at creating a consistent fitness routine I decided to focus on the one thing that I thought shouldn't be happening. I call this the PLOT TWIST. I completely missed the fact that the scale went up not because I gained fat but because I GAINED MUSCLE! I was so focused on the negative I didn't see the good! Crazy right ----- BUT like I said, this is a journey! And the more we work on things together the ore confident we will become! The more confident we become the ore we will see the changes that were happening all along! Take the time to slow down and celebrate! Like me, Lisa loves to reflect and focus on the positive because she has learnt this is where the passion, drive and success really comes from!

I am most proud of taking my journey and making it more about other people. The first time I posted my transformation story, I got a message from someone saying that they were inspired and that they are very happy to see me working so hard to achieve my goals. It was such a fulfilling day for me and I am very proud of the positive energy I have due to my healthy lifestyle.

There are SO many reasons why I wanted to become a coach. To be honest, I originally signed up very early because I loved Shakeology and wanted a discount. It wasn’t long after that when I really just wanted to “pay it forward”. My coach had inspired me so much and had such an impact on me that I just wanted to do the same for someone else. Coaching is such a rewarding experience and I wanted to experiment with running my own challenge groups with my own friends and family.
Note to Lisa: Lisa each day you absolutely amaze me. Every time we chat about life, fitness, goals, or anything I always leave the conversation more inspired, more uplifted, and a TRUE believer that this world is FILLED with special people with big hearts just like you! The world is a better place with you in it! Whether you are out there impacting youth to be strong, confident people, building homes for people OR inspiring people with your fitness journey ---- YOU are a leader of leaders. You are person that leads with heart and passion and lays it out on the table! YOU impact the world. NEVER stop believing that.
